Industrial Action: Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) demand N30billion

The union of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and National Association of Academic Technologist have being on indefinite strike due to the lingering dis-agreement between the union and the government. The striking non-teaching staff urged the Federal Government to pay a sum of 30billion to three unions as a pre-condition to call off the strike.

Speaking at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State yesterday The SSANU National Vice President, Alfred jimoh said the funds if released by the government (30 billion) would be added to the 4.6 billion to be shared among the non-teaching staff.

SSANU chief noted that they regret the action as they also know the effect it will have on both the student and their parents, he said it was imperative to embark on indefinite strike as it seems that’s the only language the government understand, because the government has been using divide and rule system among the University”.
