Bolanle Ambode urged women to employ the services of government health care facilities

The wife of Lagos State governor Mrs. Bolanle Ambode has called on pregnant women to visit primary health clinic and skilled birth attendant to curb still birth and maternal mortality. She made the utterance at the town hall of Epe local government on the reduction of maternal and infant mortality organised by the state ministry of health.

She said ” almost every minute,somewhere in the corner of the world a woman dies as a result of complications during pregnancy and childbirth”.

she observed that the refusal of pregnant women to visit an obstetric service was a major cause of increase still birth and maternal mortality in the state.Mrs Bolanle Ambode emphasize on the role of traditional birth attendant (TBAs).

According to her, it is good they know there limit and ensure prompt referral to primary health care centres.
She also enjoin child bearing mothers to troop out for free treatment on the child health week by visiting the nearest health centre, more so the pregnant women to pay attention to their nutrition.

Also in attendance is the commissioner for health Dr. Jide idris who said it is important to register the TBAs with the state government adding that pregnant women still visit them who does not know the next action to take when complications arose. Dr Jide idris assure expectant women for child birth on heathy treatment as the government as invested a lot into the primary health centre.
